Over 330,000 foreign tourists visit Ha Long

Friday, 14 March 2008
The northern province of Quang Ninh, known for its UNESCO-recognised world heritage site Ha Long Bay, has so far this year welcomed more than 330,000 international tourists, a year-on-year increase of 46 percent.
The strong increase in the number of visitors to the province was attributed to the improvement of services, simplification of official procedures, and efforts to promote the Ha Long Bay, which is in the race to become one of the new seven natural wonders of the world.
In addition, the resumption of a sea route linking China ’s Beihai city and Ha Long city along with regular visits by Star Cruises’ ships to Ha Long Bay have helped bring new prosperity to the province’s tourist industry.
Many large international cruises have made fixed schedules for their ships to carry visitors to Ha Long Bay. For example, the Costa Cruise’s Costa Allegra ship runs a trip to Ha Long every 4-5 days.
Travel agencies this year are preparing to open more tours focusing on local cultural diversity.
